) Under general supervision, perform receiving and shipping services for CAHFS San Bernardino and assist in maintaining the laboratorys central storeroom.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education/
Experience:
Experience providing excellent customer service to clients.
Skills to maintain confidentiality of client information.
Experience using computer skills to rapidly and accurately perform data entry and retrieval of data, and to utilize software programs such as StarLIMS, Word and Excel.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Skills to adapt and work in flexible conditions and to handle a high volume of work in a short period of time.
Skills in providing attention to detail and high-level accuracy.
Skills to follow protocol, safe working practices and handle/dispose of biohazardous/infectious materials.
Knowledge of and skills in veterinary/medical diagnostic laboratory test procedures and service functions.
Skills to work independently without direct supervision with organizational skills to prioritize workload and manage time to ensure that all job tasks are completed with careful attention to detail including labeling, identification, verification, matching and completing documentation all while meeting established deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
General knowledge of Foreign Animal Diseases, Select Agents, and other reportable diseases.
Knowledge of air and ground shipping regulations.
Knowledge of microbiology and animal physiology, to include optimal/deleterious storage/shipping conditions for the viability of various pathogens (bacteria, viruses, parasites & fungi) and integrity of host cells (e.
g.
, for hematology and cytology) and biochemical constituents (e.
g.
, for enzyme/immunologic/electrolyte assays).
Knowledge of and skills to use various laboratory equipment including; centrifuges, blenders, biohazard safety cabinets, glassware washers and autoclaves.
