Summary of Job Description The Kitchen Assistant assists the Head Chef in providing an excellent, high-quality lunch and snack program for all students and staff, ensuring well-balanced and varied meals in keeping with the school's emphasis on local, organic, nutritious food.
Assists in providing nutrition education to students through the lunch program and interacts enthusiastically with students about foods they will eat.
May be asked to assume additional responsibilities when the Head Chef is absent and may be asked to take on other kitchen responsibilities as needed.
Responsibilities/Duties Assist in preparing and cooking all food served to students and staff Be aware of all student and staff allergies, especially anaphylactic allergies Prepare and serve food in a manner that prevents cross-contamination and cross-contact Strictly adhere to the school's no-nut policy.
Peregrine School does not serve nuts in any food Strictly observe all food and kitchen safety policies Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen area and work station Properly store and organize all clean and dry dishes, utensils, and equipment Wash and sanitize dishes, serving utensils, and cooking utensils Ensure proper storage and use of all chemicals Empty garbage, recycling, and compost bins Fulfill all necessary duties in the absence of the Head Chef Attend meetings and trainings as needed Adhere to Peregrine Schools policies, protocols and expectations Perform other duties as assigned Benefits 3 Weeks of Paid School Holidays i.
