As a result, we are seeking candidates with a background in active transportation planning.
In addition to reviewing site plans and updating policies in the municipal code, the ideal candidate will also need to be able to lead bicycle tours, know the rules of the road, organize and manage bike valets, and give presentations to commissions and City Council.
This fall we are launching a shared micromobility service in Davis with 600 devices.
Ideally, we want our new team member to have skills working for a government or similar organization with a privately owned shared micromobility program.
As part of the team, you will help manage any issues with the devices, oversee the data, assist with educational and promotional campaigns, help draft changes to the municipal code, and provide program updates to the community.
We are also completing a city-wide bicycle and pedestrian wayfinding project.
If you have graphic design skills (e.

Adobe Illustrator) and GIS skills that is a bonus for us.

DEFINITION Under direction, coordinates the development and implementation of a City-wide active transportation program; promotes multimodal mobility and safety; reviews projects for compliance with City plans for non-motorized transportation; fosters cooperative working relationships with various public and private groups; provides complex staff assistance to management staff in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This classification is responsible for the coordination of the active transportation programs as part of the City's transportation planning team, with responsibility for independently implementing the program's goals and objectives.
Positions in this classification rely on experience and use considerable discretion and independent judgment to ensure the program's efficient and effective service delivery.
Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines and methods to deliver program services.

Coordinates, directs, and participates in the day-to-day operations of the City's Active Transportation programs, including reviewing site plans, implementing the bicycle parking ordinance, website updates, managing the Bike Index bike theft reduction program, using GIS and design software to create maps, overseeing the City crossing guard program, and developing educational programs designed to promote a safe environment for cyclists and pedestrians.
Initiates and coordinates City-wide, multidisciplinary teams to advance programs and projects; participates and represents active transportation in a variety of planning meetings.
Manages short- and long-term active transportation issues to address and improve the transportation system.
Participates in strategic planning for program operations; assists in the development of policies, procedures, and protocols to implement City goals and objectives for safe and efficient active transportation; administers and implements guidelines for bicycle parking.
Prepares and coordinates signing, striping and pavement marking for sidewalk, greenbelt, and bike path/lane improvement projects.
Assists in the design of standards for greenbelt pathways, at-grade and separated grade crossings, placement of bike lanes, and signing and traffic signal features related to bicycles/pedestrians.
Monitors assigned budget to ensure compliance with budget constraints; assists in developing grant funding applications.
Performs a variety of public outreach and community relations activities, events, community bicycle tours, and public awareness programs for the dissemination of information.
Conducts research, compiles, and analyzes data related to the active transportation program; evaluates and recommends changes for improving the accessibility and safety of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, including bike path and bike lane designs.
Participates on a variety of interdisciplinary committees and commissions and represents the City to a variety of community and stakeholder groups to ensure provision of bicycle facilities and amenities consistent with established policy.
Works cooperatively with the Police Department to develop, plan, and coordinate the bike enforcement and safety programs.
Observes and complies with City and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.

Education:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in planning, engineering, community development, or related field.

Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in planning, engineering, community development, or active transportation.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.
Possession of a valid certification in American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED, desired.
Possession of a valid League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructor license, desired.
Supplemental Information Physical Demands When working in an office environment, must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; ability to stand and walk between work areas may be required.

Effective January 1, 2016, the base wages for employees covered by this Agreement shall increase based on their years of continuous employment with the City as follows:
10 years 2.
5% of base salary 20 years 2.
5% of base salary Each longevity pay increase shall be built off base salary to a maximum of 5%.
Vacation:
New employees accrue 15 days of vacation per year.
Sick Leave:
Eligible for use after one month of employment.
Sick leave accrues at 12 days per year.
Holidays:
Employees receive the following 12 holidays plus 2 and 1/2 floating holidays.
