DescriptionThe City of Davis is looking for an experienced Community Services Program Coordinator to join the Parks and Community Services (PCS) team! City of Davis PCS Department consists of two divisions, Parks and Community Services.
The PCS Department strives to create and enhance the quality of life for Davis residents and its visitors by providing a diverse array of programs, services and recreational facilities.
The ideal candidate will have a proficiency with recreation programs, experience working with youth, creating programs/services, coordinating programs, facilities and events, community engagement and ensuring equitable representation.

Community Services Program Coordinator Examples of DutiesHighlightsThis is the journey level position in the Community Services series.
Positions in this class, under general supervision, assist in the development of community recreation programs.
The Community Services Program Coordinator implements, coordinates and supervises community recreation programs.
The Coordinator reports to a Community Services Supervisor who provides guidance and makes final decisions on the programs, incorporates information from the Coordinator into strategic planning for various functional areas and has ultimate responsibility for the budget and evaluating cost recovery of programs.
The Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing the programs, providing communication to participants and program staff, assists with preparation of the program budget, and supports the assigned supervisor in performing needs assessment and program evaluations.
The Coordinator directly supervises temporary part-time staff, consultant contracts and provides technical direction to lower level staff.
The Department has several exciting upcoming projects where this position assist with the implementation of a community needs assessment, strategic plan and annual report.
This position will also have the opportunity to work with community members, co-sponsor groups and instructors.
There will be opportunities to attend related conferences.
Typical QualificationsEducation and ExperienceAny combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
EducationEquivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation administration, public administration, human development, or a related field.
ExperienceFive (5) years of increasingly responsible experience coordinating comprehensive recreational programs or programs applicable to specific area of assignment.
