POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an outstanding environmental health scientist with training and/or experience in toxicology for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track) to join our faculty in the Department of Molecular Biosciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), UC Davis.
Our department is a highly integrated group of faculty studying fundamental biological processes and their perturbations by mutations, nutrition, drugs and xenobiotics and their application to improve of animal and human health.
The candidate should have an active research program that leverages state-of-the-art approaches to understand the molecular, cellular, physiological, and pathophysiological mechanisms by which environmental factors (broadly interpreted to include climate change, diet and/or environmental contaminants) influence health and disease.
We welcome research that diversifies our expertise and/or complements existing strengths in nutrition, physiological chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology across diverse organ systems.

MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a PhD and/or DVM and have significant postdoctoral experience in environmental toxicology or a related field.
Experience with grant writing and acquisition of extramural funding is required.
Aptitude/experience in teaching broad-based toxicology to professional or graduate students is required.
The candidate is required to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse community.
Candidates are expected to have experience with, or strong potential for, accomplishment in areas contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Those providing evidence of active research in toxicology related to environmental, human and animal health will be preferred.

Research:
The development of a creative, independent, and funded research program in environmental toxicology is a fundamental and indispensable requirement of the position, including publication of results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and acquisition of extramural funding.
This individual will provide leadership in directing research projects of graduate students, professional students and postdoctoral scholars associated with environmental toxicology within the school and across campus.
Teaching:
Candidates are expected to actively participate in the teaching mission of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
The candidate will be expected to teach lectures, laboratories and other teaching activities in the DVM professional curriculum, graduate clinical (resident) training program, graduate education and mentoring (PhD, MS), and/or department-driven undergraduate courses on campus.
University and Public Service:
University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means is required.
