Data Analyst

This position will support the Energy Feedback Team in data gathering and analysis, with an emphasis on the team's projects, including their thermal feedback app, TherMOOstat, and the Campus Energy Education Dashboard (CEED). Will cross-reference and verify incoming comfort data, create monthly reports, assist in responding to/visiting users, and implementing thermal feedback related projects on campus. In addition, the position will support the data quality efforts related to CEED with quarterly data checks, analysis on data/meter issues and verifying existing data.
Physical Demands:
May climb, crawl, bend, stoop and work in tight, confined areas. Will spend extended periods of time in front of a computer terminal and typing on keyboard.
Work Environment:
Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. Valid CA driver's license required.
This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University Policy.
Restricted vacation during peak periods.
This position may at times, require the individual to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards include but are not limited to: asbestos, PCBs, radioactive materials, industrial and laboratory chemicals, fuels, solvents, infectious materials and wastes, biological hazards and other materials labeled hazardous. This position supports critical campus functions operating 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. To assure adequate support of these functions the employee may be required to participate in a rapid response program to facilitate timely return of staff to the campus as required to meet critical needs. This rapid response program may include requirements for the employee to inform the University how they can be reached during non-working hours, to carry University provided radios, cell phones, pagers or other telecommunications equipment which would facilitate communication between the campus and employee during non-work hours, or to accept rotating on-call responsibility which could periodically restrict the off-campus movements of the employee. Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.

Minimum
Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Science or similar, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in data analysis. Experience with data quality and quality control assessments.
Experience with ASHRAE standards, the aspects affecting thermal comfort, adaptations to thermal comfort, and academic research relating to thermal comfort.
Skill to analyze large sets of data and build analytics, trends and graphics for analysis.
Skilled with Excel and working with large quantities of data; utilization of pivot tables, vlookups, and other Excel functions.
Experience with data visualizations and accurate representations of data, and skills with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
Interpersonal, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and negotiate services and/or agreements.
Skill to convey technical concepts and data to a wide audience.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience querying SQL and noSQL databases (i.e. Mongodb).
Experience with energy conservation methods in commercial buildings (i.e. mechanical upgrades, shifting peak demand, building automation, occupant behaviors).
Experience with building management systems (such as Siemens).
Experience reading mechanical, electrical and architectural plans.
Knowledge of HVAC and building control systems, metering, and Utilities/Public Works operations.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
