Assistant Director of Financial Services

Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Finance, support the development and achievement of the UC Davis Extension's goals and objectives by providing accurate, relevant and timely information to senior management that is based upon thorough review and analysis. Responsible for all fiscal affairs, financial forecasting and planning, financial controls, financial analytics, annual financial and budget planning, expense management, contract and grant administration, and financial business performance metrics. Acts on behalf of Assistant Dean-Finance, in their absence, regarding all fiscal, budget & planning affairs.
Physical Demands:
Lift materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
Restricted vacations during fiscal close and grant deadlines.

Qualifications:
Experience creating financial reports.
Experience performing public sector accounting.
Quantitative skills and experience analyzing complex data.
Experience working with Pre and Post Award Sponsored Programs.
Experience with oversight of payroll, accounts payable, travel, purchasing and related activities
Skills to query large databases and download data.
High level computer proficiency in using word-processing, e-mail, and web browsing tools and advanced skills (i.e. pivot tables) in the use of spreadsheet software such as MS Excel.
High level proficiency using automated and computerized financial systems.
Organizational skills to plan, coordinate, work independently, set priorities, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
Skills in critical thinking, analytical thought processing and creative, applied problem solving.
Orientation to detail and accuracy in working with numbers.
Experience working with a complex accounting structures.
Interpersonal skills to establish cooperative working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
Oral and written communication skills to disseminate complex information clearly and concisely while maintaining confidentiality and using good judgment and diplomacy.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Knowledge of campus accounting, purchasing, payroll, personnel, cash handling and related policies and procedures.
Skills to analyze work flows and design efficient business processes.
Skills to analyze and interpret terms and determine allowable costs for contracts and grants and to advise staff and managers.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
